About Us

The Depot Town Community Development Corporation (DTCDC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has executed a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Ypsilanti, through which the DTCDC focuses on working in the parks, depot town, and the community in general. The DTCDC still has plans to improve Frog Island and Riverside Parks, even though they are no longer in charge of operating them. As an organization we aspire to increase the quality of life in our commuity by providing capital improvements, increasing programming and engaging the community through a variety of cultural events and opportunities.

Mission

Our mission is to help community members access educational, economic, civic and recreational opportunities that enhance their quality of life, contribute to the strengthening of their neighborhoods, produce healthy lifestyles and families, spur economic development and engage them in the community.

To achieve this mission, the DTCDC adheres to the following guiding principles:

Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with federal, state, regional, and local governments, private organizations, universities, colleges, local school districts and businesses to work toward common goals.

Respect for the Environment: Considering the effects of our actions on our surroundings and taking measures to mitigate our impact on the environment.

Self-Sustaining Operations: Developing a consistent revenue stream to maintain operations in the absence of external funding or support through the creation and implementation of a sound business plan and model.

Support of Performing Arts & Cultural Activities: Recognizing the value and advocating on behalf of the arts in our society and actively encouraging community members to participate in activities that promote health, fitness and diversity.

Educational Programming: Providing opportunities for the community to participate and engage in educational and instructional programs.

Open and Engaged Relationship with Community Members: Operating and sharing information openly with the community and encouraging community members to participate with the organization.
